By classical string quartet standards, this is a short work, but one that is evocative of nature and beautiful phenomena. I conceived of the core melodic material and the windy textures during a bike ride one Autumn afternoon. Though this is meant to be a colorful and emotional work, it is not devoid of form. The opening melody pervades every section to provide coherence, but always in a new manifestation.

Recorded on April 27, 2014 in Campbell Recital Hall at Stanford University. Performed by William Joo, violin, Peter Hintz, violin, Alessandra Aquilanti, viola, and Stephanie Tsai, cello.
